I'll be seeing you in all the old familar places

Hello Everyone!

Yesterday was the Last day of classes!!!!

Catholic has a huge event of the last day every year known as Luaupalooza which is basically a giant celebration that everyone finished classes. There were a few carnival rides and entertainment up the wazoo. The more ridiculous entertainment was the Jimmy Buffet cover band, Sons of Pirates. But I guess the Hawaii theme supported them being there.

The big part of the event was the shirt they gave out at the start. People started lining up at 2 pm to be the first to receive their shirts at 5 pm. I wasn't quite as ridiculous and got there at 3:30. Yeah, that still is early.

And at the end of the event, they had fireworks for us. They were quite amazing but I wondered what everyone not at Catholic thought they were for because it is really random to have fireworks on April 29th. Even still it was a great ending to a great day.

I am basically no longer a Freshmen other then the fact that I have finals this week, which is some kind of strange limbo because it really isn't school. And then I'm home a week from Monday.

It's so exciting! Time went so quickly that now I'm here while parts of me are still back in the beginning of the year and the start of second semester. I have so many memories from this year. It's so strange that a year ago today, I had no idea who any of these people were and was still completely upset about not getting into any of the schools I auditioned for. A year later, I know and love a lot of the people here at Catholic and have finally come to terms with the fact that I am not a failure. I will definitely miss this place over the summer.

Oh and my job yesterday at work was to find a classic comedy with a lot of women. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack the size of Texas. Next to impossible. But I found four shows that have the right numbers. Yeah! This is me saying that now I'm even helping to find shows for our next season.

And now I just have to get down to studying and finishing up my theology paper. At least I have until Thursday to do that. My first final is my easiest, my acting final. We are just going to do our scenes we have been working on all semester. And then the tests come. Oh goody.

But then I go home. Yeah!

Everyone enjoy life and I will most likely write again when I am done with finals.

Bye-Bye!

I used to be a heart beating for somebody

Hello everyone!

So I have three days left of classes for Freshmen year! What?!

Nothing exciting happened during the day today but my father was back in town tonight. He took me to dinner at Carmine's which is a prime example of the obesity problem in America. The platters were larger then my head and it freaked me out so much that I really couldn't eat.

Large portions have always bothered me because in Asia, portions are small and I grew up on their nice small portions. So places that have large, family-style dishes are not my cup of tea.

Anyway, it turns out all that worrying I did about my Theology paper really wasn't all that needed. There is no required draft for our meeting on Thursday but she would like to see one. yeah, like that's going to happen. I really need to work on it.

Now onto the LAST DAY of the Music Challenge!

Day 30- your favorite song this time, last year

So today last year, I would have gotten back from my extended trip to London two days before. That trip in itself was a monumental moment in my life. It's also so weird to think that it was a year ago. At this point in time, my favorite song probably came from my hours of rocking out to awesome music on the airplane. Virgin Atlantic is awesome with their entertainment. I remember I listened to all of Adele's first album while I attempted to write a short story and making observations on how "flying over Greenland reminds me of Frankenstein" That's a direct quote right there. This song reminds me of landing at amazing LAX (note sarcasm) and how it felt kind of awesome to be back in the US. I also was enjoying the wonder of being introduced properly to Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band last year so "Day in the Life" was one of my favorites at this point. Now here is my last song of this challenge!

Has it really been 30 days?!

Enjoy and I have loved doing this challenge for you all and myself!

You're so like the lady with the mystic smile

Hello Everyone!

Classes start up again tomorrow but Guess what? I have four days of classes left, for the WHOLE YEAR!!! I can't believe that I have finished my freshmen year of college. It feels like yesterday that I was walking into Tam High, completely overwhelmed by the Seniors yelling stuff at me for my first day of high school. Time, slow down please!

Today was an uneventful day because I hadn't thought to plan anything for today. The weather is amazing though so I went down to Chinatown and wandered around again. Hopefully it stays this nice for the rest of the semester, which has only two weeks (not even) left.

My major problem right now is that I have a theology paper due on the day of the final as well as a final test. It makes me so angry, why can't my teacher just pick one? She also wants a rough draft of it this Thursday and I have an acting paper due that day. Ms.Berry, why so much work?! Other then that, my acting paper is already half-way done and all I have left are my final tests next week. Stress will probably rise tomorrow.

Anyway, onto the Music Challenge!

Day 29- a song from your childhood

I generally like songs a lot more if I can relate them to something back in my childhood. I have a playlist on itunes dedicated to them. A lot of these songs come from my two year stint in which I was in the children's chorus for British Pantomime shows in elementary school. Some come from favorite movies such as The Sound of Music of The Parent Trap (the Lohan version), as well as the greatest Disney movie time period. Even as a child, I was an old-soul with my taste in music. This particular song has a great memory attached to it.

I was at a fourth of July block party when I was six in San Diego. There was a karaoke machine and everyone was singing random songs. I remember one girl singing "Crazy" by Britney Spears. I got up and and sang this particular song and all of the parents were in disbelief and slightly awed. I knew this song because my mom had always been playing his CD in our house.

Enjoy and heres hoping I make through the next two weeks!

Players only love you when they're playing

Hello everyone!

Happy Easter! I hope that everyone had as good a day as I did.

To begin with, the weather was absolutely perfect. Nice and warm. I went down to the National Mall and walked around. I also went to the National Gallery of Art and the American History Museum, which has Dorothy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. Everyone seemed happy down on the mall and I was in a good mood the whole day. Nothing could have ruined it. Now I'm just chilling in my dorm listening to Sinatra. It's been a great day.

Strangely today, there were a lot of different religious groups trying to convert people. Some Scientologist women asked me if I wanted to join and I wanted to tell her that it was a Catholic holiday so couldn't they not take attention away from that. But I didn't.

Anyway, I have no classes tomorrow because of Easter Monday so I might go see a movie. Who knows? Now I'm going to make some tea and try to watch Easy A or Burlesque.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 28- a song that makes you feel guilty

I really can't pick out a piece of music that by itself makes me feel guilty. I doubt that is the goal of music. This is a strange prompt. Well I decided that this song makes me feel guilty because I am always playing it or singing in my dorm because it is an awesome song. The runner-up for this category is "Gimme Shelter" which I have already used but torture everyone at work because I listen to it everyday.

Enjoy! Have fun on the rest of our Easter!

Hold me close and hold me fast

Hey everyone!

Another beautiful day in DC!

I was figuring that I would be quite tired today because I was tossing and turning last night. It was just one of those nights when you think too much. In my case, it was about how I know a few people who fall under the Don Draper/ Dick Whitman problem. The type of people that you would find out they are someone completely different then they said. It was very unsettling and kept me from sleeping.

I tried to go vintage dress shopping but the place I went, which I had been really excited about, was a huge disappointment. It made me sad. I remedied that by wandering around Chinatown again and getting frozen yogurt.

Today seemed to be the day of random strangers talking to me. One guy on the Metro asked me if I had ever been stereotyped for having red hair because the NFL just hired their first red-headed quarterback. Then when I was waiting to cross the street, a guy stated that he would have to wait with me and when the light changed and we began to cross, he gave me a blessing and that was that. Then when I was getting frozen yogurt, a women and I got in a conversation about how good it was. It was an interesting day.

The weather is supposed to be amazing tomorrow so hopefully I can get down to the Mall.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 27- a song you wish you could play

Ever since I was young, I've had this strange desire to play the trumpet. I'm not really sure why, I just do. Maybe it was because I loved Jazz and the trumpet always seemed to be featured. Anyway, this is a song I would love to be able to play on the trumpet. It's on my bucket list of things to do. Anyway, here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGbcMuhlNiA

The Bells of the Basilica are going crazy right now because of Easter Vigil and it is amazing. Enjoy this wonderful song and Happy Easter!

A rose will bloom, It then will fade

Hey everyone!

Happy Good Friday! Not that it really means a whole lot to me. It should though, since I'm on still on my Catholic school campus.

It's raining here which is frustrating because I had plans to do things outside today. It was either go to the vintage stores I had researched online or go to the Mall as well as the Smithsonian Castle and the National Gallery of Art. It's a little too wet to do either of those. Oh shucks.

Now I'm just chilling here in my dorm and will probably venture out at some point. Maybe to Chinatown so that I can go to the National Portrait Gallery. We'll see. Now I'm just going to make a cup of tea.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 26- a song that you can play on an instrument

I've never mentioned this on here before but I played the violin for eight years. I started playing in fourth grade and stopped playing around my Junior year of high school. I've always meant to pick the instrument back up but haven't. I'm pretty sure I would still remember how to play. Anyway, right before I stopped playing I decided to train myself how to play this song on the violin. I was very impressed with how well I did. I used to practice it every single time I picked up the instrument.

Near, Far, wherever you are

Hello World!

So break started today and I just woke up. That was exactly what I needed because my body has been craving sleep for awhile and because of school and crew, I was not able to provide that for my body. Now it says "thank you"

After that somewhat strange ramble I just had, I'm going to wander down to Georgetown today to do a little shopping and eat at Sweet Green, which is the most wonderful salad place in DC (along with Chop't). The weather is perfect for this today and I'm very excited.

The hot weather yesterday made me realize how much I just want to chop all my hair off. I love my long hair but when it's hot, it's very hard to keep it off the back of my neck. I'm ready for that haircut and here is what I am thinking of doing:

I really hope that works out.

Anyway, onto the Music Challenge!

Day 25- a song that makes you laugh

Everything about this particular song makes me laugh. The melody, the lyrics, it's just a ridiculous song. It also was my favorite song when I was six. I would get really excited when it came on the radio and stated that I didn't like the club remix they made of it. This song is also funny because when I was doing The Three Musketeers, the same kid that busted out The Sound of Music was singing this upstairs before a show one day. Let's just say it was quite.........interesting and hilarious. Now whenever I hear this song, I can't help but laugh a little bit.

No matter what the future brings

Hello!

Easter Break officially started today and I celebrated by going to Chinatown and wandering around because the weather is superb here. Right now, it's 82 degrees. Ahh, so nice. I'm staying in DC for this break so I will get plenty of time to myself. I am very excited about it.

Anyway, last night's post was rather hasty because I was tired and didn't feel like going into too much. I had dinner with my dad last night which needless to say, I was not looking forward to. Th dinner was good while the company was boring.

Today was a better day. I had a Spanish oral exam and then had Theater 2. Work today was uneventful other then I had training for my new job I'm getting next year! I also helped to take pictures of our marquee and assemble a picnic table. The weather was perfect for it.

I finally get to sleep as long as I want this break which I haven't done in eons. That will be very nice.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 24- a song you want played at your funeral

Generally, I don't like to think about death because I'm not ready to die. I still have so many things I need to do in my life. This song seems to some up how I feel about life sometimes. It was a toss-up between this and Sinatra's "That's Life". This is a song I would also liked played at my wedding so I guess I have large connection to this song. It's so wonderful.

But while we apart, don't give you heart to anyone

Hey everyone

Break starts tomorrow! Yes, I really need it!

I'm just going to skip straight ahead to the Music Challenge

Day 23- a song you want played at your wedding

I honestly have given this a lot of though over the years. What little girl hasn't? The problem is that I have so many songs played at my wedding because I love so many songs. I was searching through all of my songs and felt that my initial choice of "All you need is Love" was probably a rough decision. Then I found this song, which when it started, I immediately knew that this was the best song to do the job for my first dance (which is what I am considering this catagory).

And you my love, won't you take my hand?

Hey everyone!

It was my first day without having to enter the booth!

Easter Break is approaching soon and I will get time to work on essays and clear my head which is amazing. Today was a high-quality day because I didn't have Spanish this morning and I registered for classes, getting all the ones I want. I also became the drama class of 2014 representative and was in charge of getting a meeting pulled together with all of the freshmen. Overall, today was a productive day.

I just want break to get here already! I need some quality time in DC.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 22- a song you listen to when you are sad

When I am sad, I generally like to listen to music that will pick me out of my mood. I hate being sad more then anything so I try to remedy that quickly. So I picked this song because it makes me laugh and will, absolutely under no circumstances, have anything to do with what I am sad about. I would also generally watch the movie (if I had it) that this is from because it would make me happy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqeq12TdW58

Enjoy and watch this movie!

If you ever need a helping hand

Hey everyone!

Cymbeline is done!

I had strike after the show and I am sleepy and feel like my arms weigh as much as the weights I had to lift on the loading dock which is 90 feet in the air. Strike was accualty a wonderfully fun time today and I normally hate strike. I don;t know what made it fun, but something did.

Now I have my time back to myself and I have three days of classes this week and then Easter which equals: SO MUCH TIME! I do have to do homework over the break which will not be fun but it has to be done. Then school is done two weeks later! I cannot believe it! I'll be done with my Freshmen year of college. Thank god.

I need to go to sleep soon because I have to register for classes tomorrow at seven am so I have to wake up early to make sure to get the classes I want.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 21- a song you listen to when you are happy

This is perfect for this very moment because I am super happy. I listen to many songs when I am happy so it's hard to pick just one. Mainly I'll bust something out by the Beatles (big surprise). Music has a tendency of making me happy or maintaining my happiness so I can't seem to choose. But here is one. It came on my Pandora the other day and it just buoyed my happiness.

Enjoy this mood-lifter of a song!

If I were richer, I'd still be with you

Hey everyone!

So the weather in DC is so random. One day it is warm and the next day it is raining.

I had two shows today so we are now in the home stretch. Tomorrow is the last show and then strike. The shows today went alright but in the second show, there was a horrible sound cue mess-up. In the play, there is a scene where Posthumus dreams that he sees the ghosts of his mother and father and Jupiter appears in it. Jupiter sings and we have music that goes along with it. The music has to start out loud so that the actor and audience can hear it. Before Posthumus goes into the dream, we have music that is slightly like a triangle or cymbal and quiet. Right when we were to start that triangle music, the Jupiter music played instead. It came blaring out of the speakers in the middle of the scene and scared every single person in the building. I began to laugh and couldn't stop for awhile due to the fact that I was already delusional. Hopefully that doesn't happen tomorrow.

I've spent all of the time that I wasn't at tech doing laundry because I hadn't done it in about a week and a half. I hate doing laundry.

It will be weird to have my life back on Monday when Cymbeline is done. I won't know what to do with myself.

Now, onto the Music Challenge

Day 20- a song you listen to when you are angry

When I get mad, I generally don't have one particular song that I sit down and listen to to help me calm down. Basically I listen to whatever is stuck in my head to distract myself. But this particular song fits how I feel and works to make me feel better. I first heard it on Glee and have enjoyed it ever since. It so perfectly catches how I feel when I'm mad. Beware, it has some explicit language bu it still is a great song.

Don't the moon look good shining through the trees

Hey!

Today was Odyssey Day here at Catholic. Basically it's a day where the prospective freshmen come and see the school and get tours and everything. I lead a few tours in the theater today and while they had a workshop, I sat outside with the rest of us giving tours and argued about weather Dale Febus was a real person (HE'S NOT!!!). The weather is amazing today so sitting outside was so nice. It also was a great feeling to know that I will no longer be the youngest in the department anymore!

We have another show tonight which I have to go to in an hour. Hopefully the freshmen I met today will come see the show because right now only 38 people have tickets. How sad. Again, it is an amazing show, come see it at 7:30 tonight!

Now, onto the Music Challenge!

Day 19- a song from your favorite album

Throughout the course of my life, I have had many favorite albums. For many years it was the soundtrack from The Lion King (that was during Elementary school). Then it progressed to many Broadway soundtracks and then it went to actual albums in high school by real musicians. The thing is with the introduction of itunes, it is easier to just buy certain songs from albums so sometimes you will never know the whole album. Right now, my favorites are and probably will forever be Abbey Road and Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band as well as the "Best of" Frank Sinatra album. This album which this song is from is my favorite non-Beatles album. This album makes me feel level-headed and makes me feel very happy which is such a surprise. Every night when I come back from a party, I listen to this album.

It's just a shot away

Hello!

The weather is amazing here right now and it makes me so happy. I wish I didn't have the show tonight! But I do and everyone should come see it because it honestly is a very good show.

Speaking of Shakespeare, I stumbled upon yesterday videos on Sparknotes of the synopsis of various plays by Shakespeare along with illustrations. They are ridiculous and funny and helpful for the plays I didn't know. King Lear is probably the funniest because the play is so complicated and the explanations are crazy.

The show was a little crazy tonight and I almost fell asleep but it's done now.(I finished writing this post after the show)

Onto the Music Challenge!

Day 18- a song you wished you heard on the radio

I have many songs I wish I could hear on the radio. This particular song is awesome and I've had it stuck in my head for days. It would be my ultimate driving song. I've even mentioned in these posts before.

Enjoy these things!

Don't be a drag, just be a queen

Hey all!

Reading day is here at Catholic and almost gone because I have rehearsal again tonight for Cymbeline. The show starts again tomorrow and then is over on Sunday. Then we have Easter break which will be very nice.

Today was a productive day. I had to go do extra credit for Theater II which consists of making a quilt piece with my hand as the decoration. It frustrates me because I have to do a blind stitch and I can never seem to do it. I really want to be able to sew well but I just can't seem to get it. It makes me really upset.

Then I had to work on my philosophy project which deals with Kant's Second Categorical Imperative in relation to torture at Guantanamo Bay. How very scholarly. Then I rehearsed my scene for acting which went well. Now I'm here writing this and working on my quilt piece. Luckily summer is coming soon.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 17- a song you hear often on the radio

I haven't listened to the radio in months since I've been at school and when I'm driving at home, I generally listen to Abbey Road or the oldies station that goes out often because it AM. But itunes has a radio function which is kind of cool. But it's failing me. So I looked up the top radio hits and here is one of them. This particular song shows up as related to every video on youtube and I kept seeing it when I listened to "Gimme Shelter" at work.

You're gonna believe them

Hey everyone!

DC is bipolar because the weather today was rainy and cold. Make up your mind DC! Today was a good day minus the weather. I went to Union Station today to get free ice cream at Ben and Jerry's after class and it was a nice way to end the day. Tomorrow is a reading day which means we have no classes so that makes me happy. I still have some work to do tomorrow but I won't have as much. Yeah!

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 16- a song you used to love but now you hate

I have trouble thinking of a song for this category mainly because I forget what songs I don't like because I never listen to them. On my itunes I have songs that I don't listen to often but other then that, I'm not sure. Now hate is a very strong word for this situation so I instead will choose "tired of hearing". I don't want to listen to this artist because my roommate never stops listening to the same songs by this artist over and over again. I'm tired of it

When the truth is found to be lies

Hello everyone!

The weather in DC is superb right now. It's so nice, that I'm tempted to ditch homework and to go sit outside and read though it is getting dark. I think I'll save that for tomorrow. I sat outside today talking to Joanna, one of the seniors, for about an hour and it was wonderful to soak in the warmth and chat with her.

Happiness is striking right now because it is 7:10 and I don;t have to worry about running a light board in 20 minutes for Cymbeline because I get a three day break before the next show. It's so nice! Unfortunately, I have mountains of work to do and I really don't want to do it. Well, whatever.

Now, onto the music challenge!

Day 15- a song that describes you.

This is really hard because I've never sat down and picked out or thought about a song that is me. I can find songs that have facets of me in them or I make up something that fits. I could completely cop-out and say "I am the Walrus" because it's weird and so am I, but I'm not going to. This song describes a fair amount of me but not everything. Even though I am an intense feminist sometimes, I can be a romantic. Here is a mix of those two things (in a way)

I'm English, try and deport me!

Hey All!

So Today was our last show for the first weekend of Cymbeline! Now I have a three day break before I have to go back and do all of that fun light board stuff again.

The show ends next Sunday and then it is Easter Week. Then our school year ends two weeks later! I have so much work to do between now and the end of the semester that it's not even funny. There is a lot of papers and I have a Annotated Bibliography and proposal due on Tuesday in Theology that I haven't finished. Thank you tech for making sure I never do my work. At least we have a reading day on Wednesday.

The weather has begun to warm up almost permanently here and it makes it hard to concentrate. So does Summer Heights High which is a brilliant TV show. Everyone should watch it.

Now, Onto the Music Challenge!

Day 14- a song no one would expect you to love

This idea basically applies to all of my music. Most people don't expect a teenager to spend her time listening to The Beatles or Frank Sinatra instead of Katy Perry. But once people get to know my music, they most likely wouldn't expect me to like any rap or hip-hop (which is pretty much). The only I really like this song is because one of our guest artists from CTE used to play it for our warm-ups. Now, whenever I hear it, I can't help but break out into some of our warm-ups.

Love is great, love is fine

Hey all!

The government shutdown did not occur! They have a five day grace period I think to come up with something but that moment has blown over. I was slightly excited to see what a shutdown would be like but I think the novelty would have worn off after a few hours. Anyway.

Today we had two shows for Cymbeline. The sound is still insane and doesn't work so the two of us that are up in the booth are basically crazy from the stress.

Three minutes before the second show, I accidentally hit a button that but cue 2 in the C/D Fader which I was told NEVER to touch upon pain of death. When I went to clear that fader, all the lights on stage went off except for one and audience members were still coming in. I had a mini panic attack and fixed it, whilst almost sobbing on the headset. The second show was a lesson in mental patients doing tech on a show. And we repeat it all tomorrow and then have a three day break.

Now onto the Music Challenge!

Day 13- a song that is a guilty pleasure

This is a great one for today because I definitely want to listen to something mindless right now. I don't have too many guilty pleasure songs because I have a slightly higher expectation for my music. As you can see with the rest of my songs. This song is a guilty pleasure because it is a completely class-less song by a somewhat trashy singer. The beat is strangely addicting on this song.

The runner up would be "California Gurls" by Katy Perry.

There's a bad moon on the rise

Hello!

The weather in DC is back to cold and rainy. Why so fickle DC? Along with the possible thereat of the government shutdown (or has it accualty happened?) and you've got a city that is on edge and annoyed for a few reasons. Because nobody wants their trash sitting in front of their house indefinitely.

I, on the other hand, am in a good mood. I had work today and spent most of it listening and re-listening to "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones. I love it because it reminds me of The Departed. There is another show tonight and hopefully this one will go just as well as our opening went. The sound finally worked!!

Onto the Music Challenge

Day 12- a song from a band you hate

When I hate a band, I hate every song they have ever made (with the exception of CCR's "Bad Moon Rising"). I hate this band because they have the cheesiest and dumbest songs ever. My friend here at CUA, Brenden, loves this band and loves to annoy me by singing their songs. This particular song is one of their most annoying. The Spanish version is slightly better.

See how they run

Hey everyone!

The weather in DC is absolutely amazing and it makes me so happy. The opening night of Cymbeline is tonight and hopefully everything will go well.

Today has been a good day. I got an 82% on my philosophy test which should help me raise my grade. I had my scene in acting and it went well. The weather seems to just be making everything awesome.

Onto the Music Challenge!

Day 11- A song by your favorite band

This is a really easy guess because my blog titles are always from this band and I have already used two of their songs in this challenge. My favorite song of theirs always changes for me. I love all of their discography because they created such amazing music in such a short amount of time. They also dabbled into so many different music areas and had such growth in their time. I love love love them! It was a tough choice for songs but here it is:

Birds cuddle down in their nest

Hello!

The weather in DC is perfect today which was really nice because today started out poorly. I had to talk to my Spanish teacher about why I got some grades and she annoyed me to no end. Completely frustrated, I went to my Stagecraft class and had to take a quiz on sewing. It really was not that bad because I made my stitches look good and knew how to use the machine.

My day got better when I was asked by one of the MFA directors to be in his quickfire along with Bobby, a fellow drama freshmen. It was very interesting and then I returned to work which was fun because I sat with Cara, an MA student who works with me, and talked about all of the interesting people involved in Cymbeline. The time flew so quickly that I didn't even realize it was time to go. Now I'm sitting in my room working on theology and philosophy which is not fun.

I have tech again tonight. Hopefully it will go better this time

Onto the Music Challenge!

Day 10- a song that makes you fall asleep

I had to create a playlist for myself a while back to help me sleep because I have having issues falling asleep. Most of the music is classical and come from a CD entitled: "The Most relaxing Classical music in the Universe". Epic name. The others are random things that relax me. This particular song is what my grandmother wants me to sing at her funeral. Bing Crosby sings it and his voice is so soothing that it helps me fall asleep. I also love 1940s music so I feel happy falling asleep to it.

The kid is not my son

Hey all!

I'm back from my fourth day of tech and it still was rough. Today was our Preview which was complete with a few stops in which we programmed new light cues and such. It's a real joy (note sarcasm). The lights went all right except for the one time that the volume was down on my headset and I missed a cue and when I skipped forward to a cue that was not conducive to the scene we were in. Awkward.

Tomorrow another day of Tech and then the show opens on Thursday! Any one that lives in the DC area should come and see it. It runs April 7th-17th. It's a great show and you can see the wonderful lights that I've worked hard on to happen at the right time.

Now, onto the Music Challenge!

Day 9 - a song that you can dance to

Yet again, so many song choices. I have a playlist on my itunes entitled "Dance-a-thon status music" named after a CTE fundraiser from high school. Dance-a-thon was ten hours of dancing with music mixes created by groups of seniors. This song (which was my song choice) was on my particular playlist which was considered one of the front runners of 2010's Dance-a-thon. This song was also appreciated and liked because it was not from the last year and hadn't been on anyone elses playlist. I take full credit for that.

Try to a suckcess

Today we had our first full run of the show in Tech. It was insanity. All of the light cues went fine with the exception of maybe two but the sound cues were so off, it was hilarious. I felt bad for the girl that was running the board because none of it was her fault, it all had to do with the insane oldness of the theater. The messed-up sound cues were stressing me out because I kept here them fail because we were all on headset. I'm in such a state of mental exhaustion that everything on this planet is hilarious. Tomorrow was supposed to be our preview but I highly doubt that it is going to be happening. Oh well, at least all of my cues were working.

Onto the Music Challenge

Day 8- a song that you know all the words to

So, Many songs could apply to this category because I make it a goal of mine to know all the songs on my itunes. The reason I know all the words to this song is that I liked the song and decided that I would learn the words. The song is fairly fast paced so that was a major goal of memorizing the songs. I know it so much that I randomly have half the lyrics of the song written in my philosophy notebook.

Enjoy both the awesome video and the song!

When you know the notes to sing

Today was another long day of Tech. We managed to finish doing cue-to-cue at the end of rehearsal today so at least that's good. I will be very happy when this is over also because the lighting designer has a hard time hiding her emotions and frustration. It's a real joy.

Now onto the Music Challenge.

Day 7- A song that reminds you of a certain event

I have on my itunes a few playlists dedicated to certain events and songs that remind me of those events. This particular reminds me of my senior show November 2010: The Three Musketeers. One day, the seniors of the cast were waiting to begin our fight training and choreography when one of the seniors, Dash, began to bust out this song as if no one else was in the room. Being that it is an incredibly famous song and from a childhood movie, the rest of the cast burst out singing and remembering moments from the movie that happen throughout the song. The fight choreographer came in and demanded that we stop singing it. It honestly was one of my favorite memories from senior year.

Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall

So today I had twelve hours of Tech for Cymbeline staring at 9:30 in the morning and ending 25 minutes ago. I am the Light Board operator and today was mostly programming cues into the board which was incredibly stressful. There are so many buttons and things of the board that after doing it for three hours, sometimes I would mess stuff up and the Lighting designer would not be happy.

On the bright side, the show is amazing. I'm loving it as I see it more and more times. But I do wish I was an actor in this show because the tech end of things is so tiring. Also the woman who is directing it is phenomenal and I want to work with her so much.

Plus, she has the world's most amazing hair and one day she came into the office and told me that my hair looked good. I almost died and wanted to say back "Your hair is amazing!" but I restrained myself.

I have Tech again tomorrow and for the rest of the week and hopefully it will get easier.

Here is where I continue on to the music challenge.

Day 6- A song that reminds you of somewhere

This song reminds me of my trip to London. The reason for this was that I had it stuck in my head on the way out to the airport when we were leaving after being stuck in London for an extra week because of the Icelandic volcano. Therefore, this song has became the theme for that three weeks. It's also by my favorite band who happen to be British (easy guess who).

It's an awesome song and has the most famous power chord in rock and roll history.

We live a cute life

Hey Everyone! Happy April Fools day! Nothing has really happened of much interest here related to today but whatever.

I start Production Crew tonight with a crew run of the show. I'm not really looking forward to crew because it's running for two weekends and I have a lot of work to do for classes. But hopefully it will go well. I have tech all weekend so I will not be doing any work for awhile.

Anyway, here is the Music Challenge.

Day 5- A song that reminds me of someone

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Nr33m1zXVE

This song reminds me of Amy Horan, who is a sophomore here at Catholic. She loves this singer and was singing this song on the Metro and around DC all day last Saturday. I hadn't known this song at that point but now I really like it. Thanks Amy!

Enjoy!
